Tips Of The Day - Be careful Windows Hacktivation by Trojan.Kardphisher

First of all, what is actually Trojan.Kardphisher ? It's a trojan that want to steal your credit card number by using a medium called fake Windows Pop-up like the real Windows Activation box from Microsoft.

Some of the message in the pop-up :-
" Please re-activate your copy of Windows"
"Your credit card will NOT be charged"
........

So, when the pop-up come out, you only have 2 option, either YES or NO..
YES - you will be direct to billing info, enter your credit card number, address, etc
NO - Your PC will be shutdown immediately..

P/s : Once the pop-up come out, you cannot run Task Manager or other programs as well.That means you cannot close the pop-up no matter what, unless shutdown your PC...huhuuh..


Get Rid Of Trojan.Kardphisher

There are two options, manually(require you to know a bit about registry, dlls....) and by using anti-virus.
My recommendation is to use anti-virus since it will be a lot easier.

Here's the correct step to get rid of this annoying trojan :-
- Disable System Restore
-Update your virus definition
-Run a full system scan for your PC.
-If necessary, delete any registry keys....

Tips Of The Day -AutoIt Can Spread W32/Hakaglan.worm?

W32/Hakaglan.worm are able to manipulate AutoIt, making it spread via AutoIt.

What Are The Symptoms:-
-RVhost.exe in your system32 ( checking via HijackThis)
-Folder Option missing just like Brontok.
-Your Task Manager has been disabled
-You cannot open "regedit"

Solution:-
Always update your antivirus with the latest virus definition. I'm currently using Avira Antivir,and able to detect the virus and delete it.

How To Set Permissions For Shared Folders In Network?

If you're in college or office, I'm sure "sharing files or fetching files from network", is a must activity.Me too. The folder which I shared in the network are Anime, songs, movie, notes and many more.

Some of the folder you shared, you only want certain people to be able to access it. Some of them, you may want it to be hidden.But,how can you do that?

Today,I'm going to share a bit tips on how to set permissions to your shared folder. I will tell you "how to hidden files in the network tips" some other time.

OK. Here's the step:-

1) Go to Folder Option, then choose View tab
2) Scroll down to the bottom then "uncheck" Use Simple file sharing(Recommended)
3) Then to set permissions to your shared folder, let say you want to have limited access to Movie folder, right-click the folder, then choose Properties.
4) Under Security tab, you may assign specific permission like Full control, modify, read etc to specific user and specific number of user.

p/s : Remember, you must be an owner of the shared folder or have been granted to do so by the owner.

Tips Of The Day - Do You Know Vista Bug Can Corrupt Your iPod?

Are your computer is installed Vista OS? And are your iPod connected to it? Then your iPod could be in danger.
Do not simply use "Safely Remove Hardware" feature or disconnect the iPod using Windows Explorer.

Why ? That's because Vista OS has a bug that can corrupt your iPod if you're using that function. Microsoft didn't state what kind of problems will that bug bring to your iPod, they just say that, IF you're affected by the bug, you'll have to use iTunes to restore all the music on your iPod.

Tips of The Day - How To Partition A Hard Drive In Vista?

Have you move your OS to Vista ? If yes, I'm sure you want to know how to make new partition in Vista. For your info,in Vista new partition is called "volume".

OK let's get started. First go to Start Menu > Run and type in "diskmgmt.msc" and press Enter. It is actually a shortcut to open Disk Management Utility.

Then to create space for new volume(partition), right-click on existing volume and select "Shrink Volume" to resize the volume. Note that you can only shrink the volume that using NTFS format.

After that new dialog box will appear, asking you to enter a new size of your volume. Make sure to see total volume before shrinking process.

After "Shrinking" process done, right-click on "Unallocated" space and choose New Simple Volume.
Just follow the wizard in order to create and format your new volume. Then you're done !!!

This will be the great news to Apple's fan out there. Recently, we've been heard a lot about Vista OS from Microsoft but still the OS for me in unstable condition. And the proof is they recently releasing a patch for Vista to patch security hole created by Vista.

Now, it's Apple's time to shining. I hope Apple's new OS : Leopard will have a great improvement from the previous version, complete with great security system and stable, making more convenient to use.

Tips Of The Day - Transferring OS From Old Drive To A New Drive

Let say you have 2 hard disk. The old one and a new one. So, if you want to transfer your OS and all it's data form an old drive to your new hard disk drive, you have to do the right way to avoid any data lost.

But before you do that, you have to configure your new hard disk. You have to install the drive, configure the BIOS( master / slave ) and format it before begin the file transferring. Make a partition if necessary.

Ok.Now your done installing new HDD. What now? You are going to need Hard Disk Cloning Software. Maybe some of you wondering why? Well to be simply put, copying Windows OS is not as simple as dragging and dropping files. It's more than that, that's why we need HD Clone.

There are lot HD clone software out there like Norton Ghost, Miray - HD Clone( free ) or Acronis.
FYI, most HD Cloning Software must be boot from CD. ( Just like installing Windows..boot from CD). So you have to configure your BIOS to boot from CD during startup. Read the manual of your chosen HD cloning software before proceed.



When your computer successfully booted from CD,just follow the instruction given to copy the contents of the original drive to new drive.

After the process of copying complete. You may turn off your computer to change hard disk jumper.
Make it your new drive as master,not slave.

Now,your computer should boot an OS from your new drive. Happy cloning !

A few days ago, I found a nice CSS template called "Fluid Solution". But unfortunately it's a normal CSS template, not for blogger.

Because I'm quite interested with the template, I downloaded it. Then I had this idea, how about I'm modifying this template to make it available for blogger( old blogger template).

There's a bit modification left to be made before I released it to the public. I've tested this template on my blog yesterday. And here's the screenshot :-

Tips Of The Day - How To Put 'My Network Places' On Desktop


Today's tip is how you can access your network place (your workgroup ) by putting a shortcut
on your desktop.If you are in college or office, accessing your workgroup is a must since you will able to share important files with your friends or print a document on certain printers available in the network.


First of all, right-click on your desktop and choose 'Properties'. Then you will see a few tabs. Select 'Desktop' and click on 'Customize Desktop' button at the bottom.

Finally, you will see another tabs, choose 'General'. Make sure you tick/check 'My Network Places' option and click OK.

With the amount of use most of us put on our computers these days, a hard drive crash can mean quite a panic. Not only are more people using their computers for their small businesses (both home based and otherwise) than ever before, but many people now have almost all personal information stored on their hard drives as well. This information can include obvious personal documentation such as digital pictures, videos, important documents, and calendars with date reminders, as well as information that is not so obvious, such as passwords to various banking services and other online businesses. Your hard drive may also maintain a record of web sites and services that you have used, which for many people is a deeply private matter.

When your hard drive containing all of this information does crash, many people will make hasty decisions on how to rectify the problem as their immediate concern is restoring the information and getting their lives back on track. Hasty action is often the wrong thing to do, however, especially where your personal information is concerned; one of the things to avoid when it comes to a hard drive crash is jumping on the first opportunity that comes along to get your information restored.

Most people will immediately look through the Yellow Pages to get the problem fixed, but this may lead you to a computer store or the computer department of a big box store. Retail stores are generally not the way to go when it comes to data recovery. Tips Of The Day - How To Change Default Printer?

Ok. Today's tip is about printer, how you can change your default printer just in case you have more than one printer.

The default printer will automatically be selected to print any work if you click the "print" icon in any program like Mic. Word, Excel and so on.

So let say, you have 2 printers, printer1 and printer2. Then you want printer2( your printer name) to be selected when you click the "print" icon.
(Printer1 currently is your default printer)

So, how can you change it ? First go to Control Panel and click on "Printers and Faxes". There, you will see there are two icons representing 2 printers.

You can see that printer1 is your default printer( find the printer with the right symbol on it ).

OK, you want to change printer2 as default, right? So, right-click on Printer2 and select "Set as Default Printer".
Then you are DONE !!!!.

Easiest Way To Access Favorite Sites Using Opera Speed Dialing

Hi again. I know most of you are Firefox's fan. Me too. But, when I read about Opera browser fact on the Net. It makes me to curious and want to try. Then I install Opera as my second browser because some said that Opera is faster than Firefox or IE.

For me, the speed is not much different from Firefox. But, one thing I like about Opera is that they have the function to make you access your favorite sites faster and easier than before. They called it "Speed Dialing" utility.

Basically what is Speed Dialing?
Well, it is a function is Opera browser that gives you quick access to your favorite sites when new tab( Ctrl + T ) is opened. The most interesting one is that you can have up to 9 speed dial.

When you open a new tab, on an empty space of URL address add new Speed Dial entry if you don't have one. To open a site which you already specify the speed dialing, simply click on the thumbnails or press Ctrl + 1 to Ctrl + 9.

Very exciting. Opera keeps better and better.
